Kylie's International Blog Highlight! Masculine Theme

Hello and Welcome!

This morning I woke up to an email, reminding me that I still had time to participate in Kylie's International Blog Highlights and I thought: Why not!?! I've been wanting to participate, but never have... I have a card that fits the theme AND... (and this was the big one) I ACTUALLY have time to blog it! So that's what I'm doing today.

It's kind of like a blog hop... but not really. You get to see a ton of amazing samples and ideas but there's no hopping line-up, with a button from blog to blog. Instead, I link you to the Highlights page where you can see all the samples at once. From there, you can pick and choose what projects/blogs you would like to visit.

Another fun aspect: is you can vote for your favourite samples! Give those creators some love and brighten up their day. Then at the end, the top 10 get to blog hop with Kylie, the following month. Pretty cool idea, if you ask me.

So here we go: the theme this time around is Masculine.

On my last Artisan Design Team hop, I featured a card using the "Eastern Palace" Bundle and Brayering (you can see it HERE). I really liked the look and decided to keep with the same idea   and create a few more cards for my Coffee and Create class this past week.

When designing my classes, I always try to have a masculine design included. I know that people struggle with masculine cards and never seem to have enough of them on hand. So keeping with the Brayered Background, stamping over top, and the Eastern Palace Bundle, this is what I came up with for a more Masculine design.

It uses the colours: Dapper Denim and Tranquil Tide brayered together on the background and stamped on top with the Eastern Palace Stamps. I also used the co-ordinating dies and the new gold vinyl stickers.

I really like the look of the stamping on top of the brayering.

OH! ... and can I tell you, how much I LOVE the Sponge Brayers!?! Like, LOVE LOVE! I may or may not have a few boxes... hehe. They are easy to use, I can have one for each colour when working on a project (no having to clean each time between colours! Seriously who has time for that!?!), AND when you're all done... pull them apart, run them under water until the water runs clear. wring them out and let dry! LOVE them!

So, I thought I would share my third and final card for my Coffee & Create class, as I thought you might be curious. I kept with the same idea: Brayered background, stamping over top and the Eastern Palace Bundle, but this time I used Dapper Denim and Fresh Fig and a little strip of DSP.

Thanks for stopping in today. For more Masculine themed projects head over to the Highlights page with this button. Make sure to check out all the entries and vote for your favourite! Happy Creating everyone!

  1. Martha, I am a big fan of brayering and you have nailed it! I love both your cards but the blue/green colourway is a stand out for me, especially with those little pops of gold! Good luck in the voting. xx
