If you're already hopping, then you've just come from the Talented Maike Ulbrich's Blog. If you're just joining, No Problem! Start here and follow around with the button below!
So I have to admit, that I... really, kind of... dreaded doing this particular feature... You see, I always like to try and bring something new to the table, something different each time (I know, no pressure eh?)... But have you seen the samples out there using this Bundle!?! THEY ARE AMAZING!!!
When the occasions catalogue first came out, you could not go a day, without seeing a new picture of succulents, made with this bundle. So... how do you add to that!?! Yep... that was the struggle.
Well, after many brainstorming sessions, inking sessions and paper wasting sessions... I realized that all the succulent creations I've seen, have been life like... A.K.A. real size, die cut size.... so what about creating mini succulents? and Voila! my project was born. A miniature succulent pot and a succulent garden necklace.
To create my mini succulents, there was A LOT of same image stamping, colouring, and cutting. I took several of the same succulent and layered them, only each time I cut one out, I eliminated a few petals. (Just like I did here, only with a bigger flower stamp).
All of my Succulents are coloured on Whisper White cardstock with an ink colour of choice and an aqua painter. The combinations that I used are: Mint Macaron and Perfect Plum. Old Olive and Cajun Craze. Old Olive and Perfect Plum. Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz. Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz.
Before assembling each succulent, I "edged" each cut out layer with a basic black marker to eliminate the bright, white edges of the paper. Not sure what I mean? Check out this post for a visual.
For the necklace, I found the perfect little locket at the local craft supply store in their jewelry section. It reminded me of a little green house box and I couldn't resist. I measured the inside and created a little insert, allowing me to remove and change it out! It made it a lot easier to assemble too.
Now, you might have noticed my purple tassel and you might think that its from the up and coming Eastern Palace suite... but it's not. In fact, at the time of creating my project, I knew nothing of the Eastern Palace suite. This is actually a tassel from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment kit and I dyed it.
I used a large, clear stamp block and dropped a bunch of Perfect Plum re-inker on it. I then squeezed my Aqua painter brush, allowing more water to flow and diluted the ink. I mixed it all together and then applied it onto the tassel. Let it dry over night... and done. A Perfect Plum Tassel.
Well, that's it from me today, I think... did I miss anything? There's so many details...
Thank you for hopping and checking out my creation for today. Up next is the Talented Mercedes Weber. Enjoy the rest of the hop!
Happy Creating Everyone!

DeleteWow. Just wow. I can tell how much work this must have been, and how tiiiiny those pieces must be. Thanks for sharing this epic project! These flowers just pop right out at me. Coloring the edge with black has a big impact, I think. Thanks also for the tip on dying the tassel... that would probably work on white baker's twine, too!
ReplyDeleteIt would! Thanks Natalie!
