My card today is the standard 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" size. To create the gate fold I took an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of cardstock and scored 2-1/8" in from each side. I decide to shape my "gate" with the Botanical Builder "branch/vine" die. In order to do this I had to unfold my cardstock and run it through my big shot twice, to cut each side separately. *Updated explanation* To get my die cut to line up in the middle, I positioned the die onto my card front while the card was closed. I made sure the die went from the top and reached the side. Once I was happy with it's position, I secured it down with washi tape to ONE flap and then opened my card and put it through the big shot. Once the one flap was cut, I closed my card and placed my die in the same spot (match your die up with the cut out). Then I secured it down with washi tape on the OTHER flap, opened up my card and ran it through the big shot again!

I also created a little belly band for my card to keep the card shut. Adding the belling band was fun, but also created the challenge of making sure my card look good with and without it.
To finish off my card, I added the "Happy Birthday" greeting from the Rose Wonder stamp set.
Thanks for joining me today, I hope you liked my gate fold card. Up next is the Talented France Martin! Enjoy the rest of the hop!

Wow, what a great idea! I would love to know more details about how on earth you made the two borders match so perfectly in the middle of the card...
ReplyDeleteLove the color combo, too by the way.
Hi Bente. To get my opening to line up, I positioned the die onto my card front while the card was closed. Hope this helps! Happy Creating!
