Something For Baby: TGIF Challenge

I had a lot of fun last week, doing the TGIF Challenges, colour challenge, that I decided to play along again this week. Their challenge this week is a sketch and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for the baby card I've been needing to create. (Mama is 14 days overdue and her little boy is giving me no excuse to not have a card ready for him! LOL) So I pulled out my Something For Baby Bundle and went to work!
This challenge is #TGIFC11

The colours I used on my card are: Whisper White, Pool Party, Smokey Slate, Basic Gray, and a little heart of Real Red. I thought pool party would work for a baby boy, but now that my card is complete I think its more gender neutral... oh well, it still looks adorable!

My "Hello Baby"greeting is created with the "Crazy About You" Bundle. The "Hello" is Basic Gray cardstock. The "Baby" is Smokey Slate ink, stamped onto Smokey Slate cardstock, and cut out with the Bitty Banner Framelit Die. Now, I know what you might be thinking... "isn't Basic Gray retired?" Nope! Just the ink (and... apparently the Baker's Twine... Bah!).

To add in the circle component of the sketch, I used the Essentials Paper Piercing Mat and paper pierced a circle onto my "Schoolhouse" DSP. Then I hand sewed the circle with the Silver Metallic thread (Love this stuff!). I think it gives my card a nice subtle sparkle and still keeps it clean and crisp.

To finish my card off, I added one little heart from the Confetti Hearts Border Punch.

Well, I hope you like my take on this sketch. For more inspirations on this sketch: check out the TGIF Challenge Blog #TGIFC11

Happy Creating Everyone!

  1. What a creative way to add the circle element to the sketch!! I'm a sucker for stitching on cards - especially baby cards. Such a beautiful design Martha, I'm sure Mum will treasure it when bubs finally arrives.
