Where, Oh Where...

is Carmen Sandiego? - Waldo? - my little dog gone? NO?

A stack of stuff I have to share!
Okay, okay... Where, Oh Where am I? Well... I'm happy to report that I am now HERE! I can't believe that it's been over a month since I posted and I'm kind of disappointed in myself that it has been... I wish I could say it's because I've been off on some grand adventure, but I can't. I won't bore you with details, but lets just say I had some creative block, along with some product mourning (sniff, sniff... blendabilities, MDS) and then to top it off, my computer decided to go on strike! But I'm happy to report that I'm back and ready to share! I am!

Did you know that while I was on my blogging hiatus, a New Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalogue came out? It did! How fun is that!?! and if you haven't guessed already, I'll be sharing all new stuff with you!

Today I'm sharing a card that I actually created for a Creation Station Blog Hop. Unfortunately, that's when my computer started to strike... and I was unable to participate. The theme for the hop was Father's Day and/or New Catalogue product! Well I did both. I used the new, FUN, Alphabet stampset: Layered Letters.

I must admit that this is a really fun stamp set! I usually think of alphabet stamp sets for scrapbooking or specific projects, but this one goes up and beyond that. Its just so fun and sketchy!

I used the letters in this set to spell out the word "DAD", But there is actually another element of the stamp set used on my card... can you guess what?

The BRICKS! The stamp set is named "Layered Letters" because it comes with a rectangle and circle stamp that you can layer the letters over. Well I used that rectangle stamp and Cajun Craze ink and created bricks! How fun is that!

I stamped "DAD" on Silver Foil card stock with Black Stazon ink. I then added mini brads and flattened them with a hammer to kind of represent rivets or nails.

The wood was created with the background stamp: Hardwood, stamped on Soft Suede CS with Soft Suede ink. I then sponged daube it with Soft Suede, So Saffron and Smokey Slate ink to roughen it up.

The "You Rock!" is the Back to Basics Alphabet set, stamped on the Burlap Ribbon, using Black Stazon ink.

I added in a crumpled up piece of Typeset DSP as another "workshop item" layer.

Over my "bricks" I stamped some Gorgeous Grunge Splatters in Pacific Point ink to represent some paint splatters in Dad's workshop.

To create some "handyman wire" I removed the foil strand from the Silver Baker's Twine and added it into the back ground.

This card is a little more grungy and busy then I'm use to creating but I'm happy with the final product and so was hubby!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

  1. Your "brick" wall is ingenious!!! What a great idea! I have Layered Letters and am going to have to give that tip a try!

    Thank You!
