Witches Cauldron!

Today I'm sharing one last Halloween project and this one is a favourite of mine. I created this project for the SCT blog, which you can see here.

When I got the Freaky Friends stamp set, I really liked the witch but I kept thinking... "Where's her cauldron?" and I couldn't shake the thought that she NEEDED a cauldron, so... I created her one... out of a Mini Muslin Bag! I know it sounds crazy but I think it turned out quite well.

First thing I did was take the rope out of the bag and dyed both the bag and rope with Basic Black ink refill. To do this: I took a bowl of water and added several drops of Basic Black ink to it. I mixed it together and then submerged my bag and rope in it. I allowed it to soak for a bit and then removed it, wringed the water out and allowed it to dry.

Once it was completely dry, I turned my bag inside out and hot glued the bottom corners in to make it a flat bottom bag. I then turned it back around (outside in!?! Lol) and rolled the top down several times to create the lip of the cauldron. Before glueing it down, I cut up the drawstrings and created little handles by glueing them underneath the lip.

I think the handles are a nice little touch for making it look like a cauldron, but really it's the candy I chose, that really completes the look!

I filled my cauldron with those green gummie frogs that have the white marsh-mellow-y bottoms. They worked perfectly to create the illusion of a green bubbling potion being brewed!

To finish of my little treat, I needed to add Mrs. Witch herself! I stamped her in Momento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and coloured her in with single colour shades of the Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake and Smokey Slate Blendabilities.

I cut out some ovals, added a greeting, a few stars and tied it to my candy bag with some linen thread. Done! A witch and her cauldron!

So.. What do you think? Does it work or is it too much of a stretch? You never know until you try something.

Well, thanks for stopping by and Happy Creating as always!
