Summer Stamping Retreat 2014

As many of you know, Stampin' Up! had it's annual Convention this past week, and I would love to say that I went, but unfortunately I didn't. Convention is an amazing experience and lots of fun, but unfortunately, once you throw in airfare and accommodations, it becomes a once in a life time kind of thing... or in my case - twice in a lifetime. One day, I hope to go again, but we'll see.

Anyways... a few girlfriends and I decided that since we couldn't go to convention, we would go on a little (much cheaper) crafting getaway together! We rented a cute little cottage right on the water and packed up all of stampin' stuff and as much junk food as we could! Okay, we brought some healthy food and clothes but really, that wasn't the important stuff!

Well, my friend Marja and I thought it would be fun to turn our little getaway into a mini convention, so without telling anyone else, we designed the essentials for a mini convention or in our case - our Summer Stamping Retreat 2014!

So every retreat needs a bag! Crazy Marja, purchased 31 bags for all of us! How awesome is she! The bag was part of her pillow swap. She had planned on doing a little convention theme pillow gift. I had mentioned one day about doing a funny awards night and making it like a little convention at the cottage... Marja quickly revealed her pillow swap so that we could work together and not have 2 mock conventions! Lol apparently, we think alike!
To decorate her bags, Marja made these cute little tags with a beautiful quote on them.

"Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere. - Einstein"

Inside the bag, there was no shortage of surprises! Make sure to click on the photos for a larger view!

Everything was created with the digital download: Old School. Marja designed the overall theme and I just followed her lead, so everything would coordinate!

First up, Marja made us adorable little name tags that she inserted into little plastic sleeves and tied with the latest In colour, Hello Honey, ribbon.

Then she made a coordinating clipboard with a notepad for all of us to take our "retreat notes" on. (see photo above)
To go along with Marja's clipboard, I designed a pen insert and made our "retreat" pens. It said the same "Summer Stamping Retreat 2014" and the same scissor dsp.

No retreat is complete, without a little memorabilia pin. So of course, I couldn't resist pulling out the shrinky dink! I kept my design pretty simple as 1: I only had one sheet of shrinky dink left and 2: well... Marja and I did this all the week before the cottage!!! Gotta love it!

The pin shown, actually has a little blooper, as I accidentally cut through the handle of my scissors. Once it shrunk it kind of curled in, but I don't mind it.
No stampin retreat would be complete without stamping! So Marja and I each made a make'n'take for everyone to do. Marja created some cute little tags to label them!

Well our mini "Convention" or retreat as we called it, was a hit! everyone loved it! We even had prize patrol and an awards night! We all received award certificates, which coordinated with everything!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope today's post inspires you to add little fun details to your occasion!
Happy Creating!
