Creative Opportunities!

So, I guess this would have been a good card to post yesterday... on Canada Day. but since I created it last night...

So if you haven't already guessed it, my card was created with material from the June Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Okay... so I know many canadian's weren't exactly impress with this kit...and I get it. I too, felt that it was a little more geared for the American Holiday. Was it Stampin' Up!'s best decision?... maybe not, but nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. I always tell my customers that there are no mistakes in crafting, just creative opportunities. Maybe this is just one of those creative opportunities. You have to admit, this kit had some pretty sweet accessories, and if it wasn't for this kit, I would have never thought of putting straws on a card.

Along with my kit, I used Whisper White cardstock, Basic Grey Ink, Liquid Multipurpose Glue, and Stampin' Dimensionals. At first I cut my straws into 3" lengths and glued them down onto a square piece of Whisper White cardstock. I found this to be too big for my card so I trimmed it down (with an exacto kife and ruler) to 2-1/2" and removed a few straws from the side. I found it easier to get all my straws the same length, when trimming them altogether.

I trimmed the Pin Wheel DSP to 3"x3". Yes, if you look real close, you can see the slit lines and hole marks... but I have yet to meet a person who thoroughly examines a card when they receive one. I cut a slice off another Pin Wheel DSP and made a grey, chevron, banner. Added my greeting, twine and one large, yummy brad! Voila!

Happy Creating Everyone!
