Be My Valentine

Today I'm sharing another Valentines Card. This is the third and final card that I designed for an event.

I wanted all 3 cards to coordinate, so I kept with the clean white background and same colour combination as the others. Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black and Smokey Slate. This card uses the speech bubble from Hung Up Cute Clips, as the other cards use the 2 other designs in the pack.
My striped pennant is from the stamp set: Hearts a Flutter and die cut with the Hearts of Flutter Framelits. My very traditional greeting is from the stamp set: Delightful Dozen, which is a great set to own.

Over all it's a simple card, but I think it completes the set. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day as always!

See Ya Later Alligator!

So have you had time to check out the SAB brochure yet? If so, which items do you just "need" to get?

As you know, my first "must have" was the stamp set: Banner Blast and coordinating Banner Punch. My second or I guess, my third "must have" was the stamp set: See Ya Later. I just love the little sayings.

Today's card was inspired by a card I found on Pinterest by Magumi Holland. I absolutely loved her alligator, so I just had to case him and add him to a card of my own. I had to change my alligator a bit from Magumi's as I don't have the SAB, Decorative Dots Embossing folder. Also the google eyes are no longer current (aha! I caught that one ;) ), so I created them with card stock and candy dots.

To create Mr Alligator's head, I use the Petite Pennants Builder Punch, Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Owl Punch and the circle punch that comes in the Punch Pack. I used Gumball Green card stock and ink, Whisper White card stock and So Saffron ink.

Originally I had created some Paws(?) Feet(?) for my alligator using the Banner punch. I played around with them for a bit, and the more I did, the more I wanted to created a body, so I did. His body was created using a framelit from the Chalk Talk Framelits. I really wanted to use the feet, but the more I played with them, the more they just didn't work. Without the feet, Mr Alligator looked like he was floating in the water, so that's where I went with it. I mounted him on Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay card stock and added some "water" details with the fabulous stamp set: Gorgeous Grunge!

So, what do you think...? Are you thinking that he doesn't quite look like a floating alligator because he's missing his tail? Well... I would agree and that is why this card continues onto the back! I just couldn't resist adding a tail. See ya later alligator!

Love Ya! Version 2.0

Do you remember this card from a couple of post ago and how I came to the sad realization that my Expressions Framelit was retired?

Well, truth be known, I created that card, while I was designing cards for a Valentines event. I really liked the card, but it was too complicated for my event and it's time restraints.

So back to the drawing board I went and designed version 2.0! I quite like it!

I swapped out the Basic Black background because the Whisper White craft ink doesn't dry immediately. I didn't want participants to smear their cards while crafting and be disappointed. (I always make sure they get to stamp something, hence why I didn't opt to pre-stamp it). I eliminated the word "Love" (for obvious reasons), added the large heart punch for balance and Voila! A whole new card.

I hope you like version 2.0 and that it inspires you to recreate one of your own previous creations!
Have a great day and Happy Creating!

It's Here, It's Here!!!

SALE-A-BRATION IS HERE!!! This is my favourite time of the year. It's almost like a second Christmas! Just when the winter blues may be setting in, Sale-a-Bration comes out and saves the day! If you're new to Stampin' Up! shopping, then let me explain what it's all about.

Sale-a-Bration or SAB is Stampin' Up's greatest promotion. It happens once a year and goes for about 2 months. You will receive a FREE SAB item of your choice, for EVERY $60 CAN (before shipping and tax) that you spend! How awesome is that!?!

So check out this years Sale-a-Bration catalogue HERE, and start shopping!
Today's card features my 2 favourite SAB items! Banner Blast and Banner Punch. I used Bermuda Bay, Pistachio Pudding and Blushing Bride Ink, Whisper White card stock and Pistachio Pudding Ruffle Stretch Trim. To finish the card off, I added rhinestones to my flowers and a speech bubble from the Hung Up Cute Clips!

I can't wait to see what you create with this wonderful duo. Happy Creating everyone!

I Love MDS!

Happy Monday! Did you have a good week-end?

Here in London ON, we had a VERY snowy week-end, which meant cancelled plans and staying in, but that's okay. I made sure to get in lots of snuggle time with my boys!

So, you've probably noticed all the changes I've been making on my blog, but did you know that all of my changes were designed with My Digital Studio? Yep, it's true! MDS is so much more then a scrap booking program.

I created my Blog Header & Background, my Facebook Cover & Profile Picture, my Favicon AND my Business cards, all with MDS! Now do you understand why I LOVE MDS?

Today I'm sharing my Business Cards. Usually when it comes to business cards it's cheaper to do one-sided cards, so I was ECSTATIC to see a half off promotion! I could have just gotten the half off and saved some money, but since I was expecting to pay full price, I did double sided business cards for the price of single sided!

I'm really happy! I wanted a clean and simple look and having 2 sides to work with, makes that a much easier task!

Happy Creating Everyone!

Love Ya!

Well... I was going to share this post with you today- Thursday... but since it's 10pm Thursday night and I'm JUST now getting a chance to upload my picture and write out my post, I guess I'm sharing it on Friday! Boo... I was REALLY trying to post all 5 days this week... oh well, there is always next week!

So... Happy Friday! Today I have another Valentines' day card for you, as the big day is just around the corner.

First off, I would like to apologize for the quality of my photo today, my camera's battery died and I couldn't find my charger. (It's usually in the same spot, unless I've travelled, which I did for the holidays... So who's wall did I leave it in...)  Lucky I did find it (in a suitcase), but of course it had to charge, so I had to pull out the trusty phone camera... I'll replace my picture with a good one, I promise. *Up dated with new photo!*

Today's card is on a note card base. The card size is 3 1/2" X 5". I love the notecards and envelope pack. They are a great size, already cut and scored and no worries about finding or making an envelope.

I used my ever popular stamp set: Just Sayin, (are you getting sick of it yet?) along with the Word Bubble Framelits. I also used a stamp from the stamp set: Tape it and the arrow embellishment from the Hung Up Cute Clips pack.

The word "Love" was created with the Expressions Thinlits. (O-MI-GOODNESS... How did I miss that these didn't carry over!?! These are sadly, no longer available. I am so sorry. I didn't realize it wasn't current anymore, I think I need to check stuff BEFORE using it... twice in one week! Please forgive me!) A little trick to using these intricate Thinlets is to place wax paper between your thinlet and paper. Doing this allows your die cut to pop out much easier! (ugh! I can't believe it's retired... so sorry!)

Have a great week-end, hopefully you'll get some crafting time in!
Happy Creating as always!

Hard Hats are a Must!

Brrr, it is cold out today! It is completely opposite to that of last week's weather, when I snapped these photos. It was a nice warm day, the snow was melting and we pulled out some of the summer toys for the boys to play with. They had a ball and Matthew loved finding the construction hat. I have never met a kid who likes to wear stuff on their head as much as him. If he had his way he would wear his hats to bed.

Well in good Matthew fashion he put on the construction hat and played away, even with his winter hat already on.

When I was taking these photos, I knew that I was going to be using one of my FAVOURITE downloads again! The Bday Under Construction Ensemble. I absolutely LOVE this kit and if you have little ones, It is a must have!

Have a great day and please see my supply list below!

Banner Blast

So I thought I would share with you another Sale-a-Bration creation, since SAB is only 7 days away! Woot Woot!

Today's card uses my 2 favourite SAB items. The stamp set: Banner Blast and it's coordinating Banner Punch! I am such a sucker when it comes to coordinating items, especially, when it's a stamp set and punch! (and even more, when it's FREE!)

"Banner Blast" is a set of 10 stamps, consisting of 7 different banners, a heart, a star, and a flower. The Banner punch, punches out the banners with no paper border around them (YEAH!)! The stamps are a tad bigger then the punch, giving you a bit of a "bleed" area when it comes to punching them out. YEAH! Less worry about getting it in the correct position.

I stamped my banners on Whisper White card stock with Real Red and Smokey Slate. I attached them, using Stampin' Dimensionals, allowing room for me to slip my Hanger embellishment underneath. The 2 banners are also hiding the 2 glue dots that I used to attach the hanger to the front of my card. Everything is mounted on Whisper White and Smokey Slate card stock. For an extra little detail, I used the "Hearts" folder from the Adorning Accents to emboss the grid of hearts across the card.

Happy Creating everyone!

You Make Me Happy

Hello, today I'm sharing a pretty simple card that I think will brighten anyones day. My card was inspired by the greeting I used: You make me Happy when skies are gray. This wonderful greeting stamp is from the Sale-a-bration stamp set: See Ya Later. (Psst Sale-a-Bration starts in 8 DAYS!!! Eeeee!) It has 4 cute stamps in it and I know you're going to love it.

For my card, I knew I wanted a cloud with a beautiful sun shining out from behind it. I don't have a stamp or DSP like that, so out came my inks, and sponge daubers!
My cloud is the thought bubble from the Word Bubble Framelits! I used Smokey Skate card stock and sponge daubed the edges with Whisper White ink.

The sun is a 3/4" Daffodil Delight circle, sponge daubed with Crushed Curry ink. I created the sun beams with paper masks and sponge daubers. First I laid down a scrap piece of card stock with a circle cut of it and then I used the edge of a scrap piece of card stock to create the beams. I used Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie Ink.

My greeting is stamped in Pool Party ink on Whisper White card stock and mounted on Pool Party card stock. To finish my card off, I add some Rhinestones and a Daffodil Delight, Taffeta bow (*sorry, I thought it was current, but apparently it's not! oops!)

Have a great day and Happy Creating!

Is it too Early?

Happy Friday everyone! First off,  I really have to thank my friend Marja for being able to share more new product with you. Marja is a very successful and very talented, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator! She came to visit the other day and I asked her if she could bring her new stamp sets with so I could quickly stamp off some images. Well, she did AND she left me a huge pile of stuff to play with! She said they were just scraps, but between you and me, I think she was lying ;) Thank-you Marja!
So... Is it too early to post an Easter card? I guess you can never plan too far ahead, especially when it comes to making cards.

The Little Bunny image is actually from the new baby stamp set: Baby We've Grown, in the new Occasions Catalogue. I coloured Mr. Bunny with Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Star Fruit and Soft Sky markers. It's a cute little set and one day, I would like to add it to my collection.

Another new product on my card is the Designer Series Paper! It is from the Sweet Sorbet pack, available during SALE-A-BRATION! (EEE! it's starting soon!!! January28th) Marja gave me a bunch of "scraps"(more like half sheets) of this and it's a really fun DSP.

Other materials and tools I used:
Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Summer Starfruit card stock.
Black Stazon ink.
Delightful Dozen Stamp Set.
2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch.
Banner Die from the Circle Card Thinlits.
Picture Die from the Chalk Talk Framelits.
Summer Starfruit 3/8"Stitched Satin Ribbon.
Pearl Basic Jewels.
Tea Lace Paper Dollies

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great week-end!

Say Ahhh...

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday! Today I have another MDS scrapbook page for you.

On Monday, I took my 3 old son: Greyson to the dentist. I was so proud of him and happy that he wasn't afraid. He loved every second of it! So of course, I just had to scrapbook it!

Funny enough... I have a TON of downloads and YET I don't have a single one (none that I could find at least! Ha!) that has to do with teeth, or dentistry! I was going to create a toothbrush with punches but then I decided to do a dentist mirror instead. They call it a "happy visit" so that's all they did: look. I thought my title was appropriate too ;)

I created the mirror with punches and used it as a photo holder. I made a crescent shape punch using the punch editor and layered it on top at a reduced opacity for a reflective effect! What do you think? I think it works...

Have a great day and happy creating! See below for my supply list!

Decorating Fun!

I am sorry about not posting yesterday. I meant to finish this page up on the week-end and pre-post it, as I knew I was busy yesterday, but I just kept fiddling with it!

That is one thing that I love (and yet sometimes hate, Lol) about MDS! You can change your mind a million times and not have to worry about it being glued down, wasting paper or running out of supplies!

Another thing I like about MDS is that, if you can do it in real life, you can do it in MDS! Example: Punch Art! When I started my page, I knew I wanted a cute little gingerbread house on it, but I didn't have a download of one, so I opened up my punches design center and created one of my own! What do you think? Once I had the main structure designed, I added all sorts of different embellishments to decorate it! Please see below for a full supply list.

Happy creating everyone and don't forget... It's Tuesday, which means... New download day!

Just Sayin! Are you tired of it yet???

Are you tired of seeing this set yet? What can I say... I love it! I promise this is the last example using the "Just Sayin" bundle for a bit, I promise! But on the plus side, I did do a cool effect with it... does that make up for it?

So I was perusing on pinterest the other day, under the DIY & Crafts category, when I came across this really neat image. Basically the items where layered on top of each other and removed at different stages of spritzing to give each item a different intensity. I love how you can still see the outline of each item. So I pinned it and off to my craft room I went to see if I could apply it to my paper crafts.

I don't know about you, but spritzing with a tooth brush is just too uncontrolled for me... so I pulled out my spritzer tool and Baked Brown Sugar marker and off I went! (*PSST! Did you know that the Colour Spritzer Tool is on the clearance rack for over half off!!!) I die cut a bunch of the speech bubbles out and layered them one over the other and started spritzing. I removed one or two bubbles and spritzed again and repeated until all the bubbles were removed!

I used Baked Brown Sugar on Crumb Cake card stock. My greetings are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Soft Suede ink on Whisper White card stock. I applied the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape, Basic Pearl Accent Jewels, and Linen Thread and used So Saffron and Tangerine Tango card stock.

I hope you liked today's technique and will give it a try!
Have a great week-end and Happy Creating!
See ya Monday!

Just Sayin: An Everyday Inspiration!

Do you have a hard time finding inspiration? I guess with pinterest around these days, that problem is pretty non-existent... but let's say we don't have pinterest. Where do you find inspiration?

I love that you can find inspiration from everyday objects. Maybe it's a colour scheme from a bottle of cleaner or a layout from a cereal box. Maybe its a pattern on a table cloth or a picture in a magazine, whatever it may be, there is inspiration all around us.

My card today was inspired by my phone! I'm not sure if texts in speech bubbles is standard on all phones or just the iPhone but either way that is where my inspiration came from: my texting screen! I laid my speech bubbles out like a conversation and added rhinestones for the status indicator.

To create my speech bubbles, I placed lines of the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape on Whisper White card stock and then ran them thru my Big Shot using the Word Bubble Framelits.

My greeting: from the stamp set: Just Sayin is punched it out with the Word Window punch and attached to Linen Thread with a tiny clothes pin from the Tags and Bags Accessory Kit.

I hope you like today's card! Happy creating and remember inspiration is every where!

Snow Monster!

Have you ever taken pictures, that you just had to scrapbook right away? That you already had a page in mind, before you even had the pictures off your camera? Well, that was me with this page!

I just couldn't resist scrapbooking my little "Snow Monster" in his new hat from Grandma, and I knew I had the perfect download for it as well! The Watercolored Winter Kit has just the right embellishments to give my page the cold and frosty look I was hoping for! I love the "snow swipes" and "snow circles" and when you start changing the opacity of them, it really gives you an authentic frosty look!

Well I hope you've been keeping warm the last few days!  We've had a couple of snow days here, with temperatures at -25, feeling like -40 with the wind chill... Yikes! Bring on spring ;)
Have a great day, stay warm and happy creating!
Please see below for my complete supply list!

*added note: I'm not sure why, but it seems that blogger is uploading my page darker then it is...I have my file open and my web page open and there is an extreme difference... hopefully it's not as bad for you... sorry.

Paper Crafting to the Rescue!

One of my goals / resolutions for this year is to complete some of my unfinished projects. I AM TERRIBLE for getting all excited about a project, jumping in head first, and then... never finishing it! Anyone else guilty for this?

Well, one project that I definitely wanted to finish was my giant ruler growth chart. You've probably seen these all over pinterest, just as I have. I love the idea of them!

The sad part is that I've had the wood bought, stained and varnished for probably over 6 months now and then it sat in the closet... But no more. My boys are growing fast and I want it done.

My original plan was to use vinyl and stick on lines and numbers, but I was unsure of the longevity of it. Next, I thought I would mask everything off with painters tape or vinyl and sponge paint everything... Oh the measuring... I was dreading it!
BUT...THEN I found this blog on pinterest and I jumped for joy! She showed, how she made a template for the lines! A TEMPLATE! DUH?!! Why didn't I think of that!?! Lol!

She used a sharpie marker to colour in her marked lines, but it got me thinking..."Why couldn't I just sponge my lines in with ink...might as well use my template to its full capacity!" So, out came my SU Trimmer, a 12X12 piece of card stock, Black Stazon Ink, Sponge Daubers, my Big Shot and dies (sorry not the current ones...), and off I went! I love finding other ways to use my paper crafting supplies, It's like finding buried treasure!

Can you believe that I got it done in one evening! It was SO easy, that I wish I had done it sooner!

The template and ink worked amazingly. My lines and numbers turned out perfectly: clean and crisp!

My ruler has already been mounted on the wall, which is an accomplishment in itself! I love it and I can't wait to see it in years to come with all of their measurements on it. Maybe one day, I'll be marking my grandchildren's height on it!

Have a great day and Happy Creating as always!

Just Sayin: Glitter and Washi Tape!

I was so excited about getting back into my MDS and sharing a scrapbook page with you, that I completely forgot to share, that the 2014 Occasions Catalogue opened on Friday! How fun is that!?!  If you haven't check it out yet, you really should! It's amazing!!!

I haven't really been able to get my hands on too much of the new catalogue...yet. But when I first saw it, I knew immediately, that my first purchase was going to be the "Just Sayin'" Bundle and the Retro Fresh This and That Designer Washi Tape! I absolutely love all the little speech bubbles and the matching framelits!

Today's card features both of the products and an old technique that I transformed by using the washi tape.

Do you remember an old technique of making a glittery window with packing tape? (If not, check out the technique here.) Well, I got thinking... "Why couldn't I apply the same theory to washi tape?" So... I did!
Using the speech bubble framelit, I big shot it out of the centre of my card front. I then turned it over, applied washi tape over the opening in strips and then dumped my glitter on it and Volia!
To help it stand out I placed a piece of white card stock behind the washi tape because it's a bit see through.
So... What do you think? (click on the photo for a close up view) I really like how it turned out and I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Well thanks for stopping by and have a great day! Happy Creating!

Let the Festivities Begin!

WOW! Its been a long time since I've  scrapbooked. I kind of switch back and forth between paper and digital crafting and I haven't really master doing a little of each. Well... nothing like Christmas to get you back into it!

I'm absolutely loving the pocket cards that stamping up is coming out with, and I'm not even using them as "pocket cards"! With all the function tools that MDS has, the possibilities with their downloads are endless!

My page layout was inspired by this page that I found on the internet. (I wish I knew where I got this from, so I can give credit, but unfortunately this was before Pinterest's time, and back then, when you liked something, you just grabbed the photo and saved it...)

My page uses:
Remember the Joy Pocket Cards and the Glimmer Designer Series Paper. With the hanging ornaments, I used the ornament keepsake punches to complete them as they were cropped out of a box and the 2 outer ones had no sides and the red one was missing its bottom. The font is arial.

Snowball Surprise!

Good Morning! Did you have a good New Year's day? My family and I had a wonderfully lazy day of watching movies, snuggling and family nap time! It was great!

Today, I'm sharing another pinterest inspiration!
On my Husband's side of the family, I have 2 nieces and 3 nephews to buy for, for christmas. Their ages range from a very mature 4 to 8 years old and as they're get older, I'm finding it harder to know what to get them...Fisher Price can't help me anymore.

So this year, I decided to give them money... but instead of just putting cash in a card, I decided to make it fun for them as well!

I found the snowball idea on pinterest, and thought it was absolutely brilliant! I created 5 very wonky "snowballs" filled with all sorts of goodies, from stickers and candy to Hot Wheels and lip gloss and who could forget the money! But...I didn't just put a bill in there... Nope! They got their cash one Loonie or Toonie at a time!

Once I finished creating my "snowballs" I bagged them up and added some shiny ribbon, but they needed something more... So off to MDS I went! I created cute little tags to explain what I was giving them. I printed them off, punched them out and attached!

I used the splatter tool, under stamps, to create the snowball "splat" in Wisteria Wonder. The snowflake is from the designer kit: Lemonade Stand and I used the font: Cornfed. To get my wording on a curve, I used the free form tool to create curved lines and then attached my text to it. (please see my video here for a how-to)

Here is my digital file. Feel free to print and use!
Happy Creating!

Happy New Year! Did you get crap for Christmas?

JUST KIDDING! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and received everything you wished for. Our household had a wonderful holiday, visiting family and making new family traditions with our 2 young boys. They make Christmas so magical!

So I thought I would share with you a few projects I created over the holidays, since I couldn't share them before, without revealing them to the recipients.  Todays project was ALL Pinterest!

I created these little toilet paper, snowmen after I saw this pin. The toilet paper rolls fit perfectly into Stampin' Up's clear Gusset bags that are were on the clearance rack. I threw the rolls in and tied the bags up. Then using my 3/4" circle punch, I punched out Basic Black circles and crumpled them up to make them look like lumps of coal. For the nose, I rolled a long triangle of Pumpkin Pie card stock, sponged with Tangerine Tango ink. I attached everything to the bags using a hot glue gun. For an extra little touch of sparkle, I added a rhinestone to each eye.

To finish them off, I added a little tag saying: "In case you get crap for Christmas". I just couldn't resist after seeing this pin!

Have a great day and Happy Creating!
