Scrapmap 4: Sticker Fun with Daddy!

Happy Easter everyone! I know I should have an easter creation today (since my Husband kindly pointed that out), but unfortunately, I didn't really do much easter crafting this year. I hope you will forgive me and still find some inspiration from my page today.
Did you know that My Digital Studio.net holds weekly contests, AND... that you can win FREE downloads? Yup, it's true. They do all sorts of different challenges, colour challenges, layout challenges, etc, and they give you 2 weeks to create and post you samples. Then on each Saturday they announce: honourable mentions, the winner and that week's new challenge! The winner, then gets to pick any download from the next set of New Downloads! It's awesome! Who doesn't want FREE Downloads!?! Their contest are a great way to challenge yourself, find new inspiration, and/or just get your creative juices flowing!

Todays page was inspired by their Scrap Map 4, Layout Challenge! Stampin' Up! provided a layout and said "go nuts!".  Well not literally, but you know what I mean!

Here is what I did with their layout. The nice thing about layouts, is that you can use them exactly as they are OR... you can use them as a starting out point! You can see on my page, how the layout inspired me and you can see how I add a few extra touches! Please see below for my supply list!

I really encourage you to take part in their weekly contest. They are a lot of fun and full of inspiration!
Here are the 2 current contest:

Hoppy Easter

Happy long week-end!!! My Family and I had a great day yesterday and I hope you did as well.

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of going to a MDS BYOL party with Heather Summers! say what?!? a My Digital Studio, Bring Your Own Laptop Party! It's like a Stampin' Up! party but Digital!!!

Heather showed the program on the big screen and everyone followed along with the Free Trial of MDS on their laptop! Heather also brought print-outs, that she created in MDS, that we could assemble and take. One of the little make and takes, was this cute little easter tag. It uses the download: Celebrate Easter Ensemble. It is such a cute download! Thanks Heather & Barb for a great party and project!
Do you want to have your own MDS BYOL Party and earn free stuff from Stampin' Up!?  If you live in the London ON or surrounding area, then contact me, and we can arrange your party! Want to have a party but not in your house? Then come to mine! Either way it will be a great time!

Have a great long week-end, Happy Easter and Happy Creating!

Happy Easter Eggs, MDS Style!

Yesterday, I shared with you this little egg card that I created. I really liked how cute and colourful it turned out, so I decided to recreate it MDS style!

I used elements from the "Everything Easter Ensemble". The easter egg image is a stamp, and the colouring of the egg is an embellishment. Thanks to the "re-colour tool" I was able to recolour the embellishment to make my eggs different colours.

The little rabbit is a stamp and an embellishment grouped together and as cute as he may seem, he needed a little help to fit in.

His egg wasn't the right colour, it had a shadow underneath and it didn't have any polk-a-dots on it!!! But that's okay, because MDS has so many awesome tools, I was able to fix him up in no time.

I wanted to keep Mr. Rabbit brown, so I couldn't just hit the re-colour tool.  In this case, I took advantage of the freeform tool. The freeform tool, basically places a layer on your project that allows you to colour or draw on it. So in Mr. Rabbits case, I coloured a new egg colour and sent it behind the stamp image and in-front of the embellishment.

I hope you like my digital card today, please see below for a list of supplies, and have a great day!

Happy Easter Eggs!

One of my favourite holidays is Easter! I don't know why, but it makes me smile.

Today's Easter card features two stamps from the stamp set: Spring Sampler. I love this set! It's cute, It's fresh and most of all It's fun!
I love repeating images when creating. It's fun, especially since there always has to be one that draws your attention. The little chick-a-dee that is drawing your attention right now, actually sits in a little nest. His nest is too wide to hide with an egg, so I masked off my stamp with some scotch tape, inked it up, removed the tape, and voila, I was able to stamp Mr. Chick-a-dee all by himself!

To soften up my card, I created it on a vellum shell. I placed my colourful mats on the inside and the colourful eggs on the outside, giving it a very layered looked.

I hope you have an  Eggs-cellent day and Happy Creating as always!

Little Monkeys

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated my son's 1st Birthday. It was a monkey themed party and I may or may not, have gone a little over board. lol. One thing I did do, was decorate the party hats with monkey ears. The kids looked so cute running around in them.

I would have loved to get a group photo but the kids were to busy having fun and lets face it... It probably wouldn't have happened, as their ages ranged from 5 months old to 6 years old!

So, I decided to snap individual pictures of them and create a page!
I think it turned out cute and I love that I was able to make a little "Dr. Seuss" like, rhyme for my title.

Thanks for stopping by and as always, Happy Creating!

Rain or Shine

Happy Monday, I hope you had a great week-end. Mine was pretty low-key, but I did manage to get into my craft room for a little bit! Yeah!

Today's card uses the new stamp set: Rain or Shine from the spring catalogue. I just love the different umbrella tops in this stamp set.

Another thing this card features is embossed accents using the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. I love how SU has also provided a coordinating die: Adorning Accents Edgelit Die!

Thanks for stopping by and happy creating!

Traffic Jam

I don't usually go on and on about a digital download, but I absolutely LOVE the Bday Under Construction ensemble. This kit is a MUST HAVE!

One thing I love about My Digital Studio is if you can do it in real life scrap booking, you can do it in MDS. A perfect example of this, is the ripped edges technique. I like how I was able to make my pictures look like piles of dirt, simply by ripping their edges.

Thanks for stopping, please see my supply list below and Happy Creating as always!

Daddy's Boot's

Did you check out yesterday's Downloads? Whether you use MDS or another program, you should!!! There are 2 great construction, birthday kits, full of printables (water bottles, cupcake holders, banners, candy covers, invitations and much more) and... one is FREE!

It's great that SU provides all the printables in their ensembles, but I absolutely love how they includes all the components as well. They allow you to customize your party and create other projects, such as scrapbook pages and frame art.

My page today show's just a LITTLE bit of what is include in the Bday Under Construction Ensemble.
I love how My Digital Studio allows you to crop stamps and accessories. I was able to take the "RSVP" away from the "Site Supervisor" stamp. I was able to customize the "Kids at Play" embellishment to say "at play".

I hope you like todays page and please see below for my supply list. Have a Great day!

Colourful Sale-a-Bration!

In all of the excitement of updating my blog to Easter last night, I totally forgot to post! LoL I LOVE Easter.

I really like the SAB Designer Series Paper, this year. My card today shows how colourful it is and just some of the different patterns it has to offer.

When I started this card, I had a different plan in mind. I wanted to have my squares of paper and then add a little image on top, with a saying. But nothing I tried worked. I decided that I really liked the squares just the way they were. So I added a button and some ribbon and TA-DA, done! The DSP makes it nice and colourful and the tone on tone gives it a nice soft feel to it.

***Do you know that the Sale-A-Bration promotion is over in 4 short days? Yikes!
If you haven't taken advantage of this Awesome promotion, Make sure to jump on over to the Stampin' Up! Store and check it out! contact me to place your order OR shop on-line and enter my name as your demonstrator (martha devries) to receive preferred pricing! ***

Happy Creating!

Lucky Pot of Gold

I don't usually post on the week-end, as..., well... let's face it, I can barely post everyday during the week. Lol.  But I didn't post on Wednesday and I did want to share this little treat before St. Patty's Day, so this time I'll make an exception ;)

I look forward to the day (but not in a rush for) when my son's come home asking me to make treats for their classes. I love making little treat packages and seeing the smiles it brings to peoples faces.

In honour of St. Patricks day, I created this little Pot of Gold underneath a delicious rainbow package. I used gumballs for the rainbow and punches to create the clouds and pot of god. To give my punch-outs a little bit more definition, I sponged the edges with ink. Bashful Blue on the clouds, Whisper White on the pot and More Mustard on the coins.

Happy green day to everyone! Have a great week-end and as always, Happy Creating!

The Little Party Girls!

Yesterday, My up-line posted a last minute dare (so we thought...), to participate in this week's My Digital Studio.net challenge.

The Challenge? Create a scrapbook page, a card, anything... using any of the wonderful downloads released in February, which includes the awesome "Hello There" Digital Kit!

Having 2 boys, I very seldom get to design girly pages. So when I was able to capture these adorable photos of my little nieces, I couldn't wait to scrap them! The "Hello There" kit was perfect for their pictures and thanks to my up-line, I was able to complete my page, while the memory was still fresh in my mind.

Are you an MDS user? If you are, you should definitely check out SU's weekly challenges, as they are open to EVERYONE, and not just demonstrators. There is also a prize! The winner receives any 1 download of the following week for Free! So I dare you to enter ;)

Have a great day and Happy Creating.

My card today was created using 4 of the Sale-a-Bration items. The Images are from the Stampset: Pretty Petites, and I punched them out with the co-ordinating punch: Petite Curly Label. My green leafed background was created with the embossing folder: Vine Street and the ribbon and Pool Party button is from the Sycamore Street ribbon and button bundle! How fun are each of those products?

If you haven't seen the Sale-a-Bration products yet, check them out here! For every $60 you spend, you'll get a Sale-a-Bration item for FREE! Make sure to check it out soon as Sale-a-Bration ends March 22, 2013!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Creating!

Out of this World!

Where has my mind gone? I totally forgot to finish my post last night... I had an impromptu visit with a friend and after she left, I went straight to bed. Oops!

As I mentioned in a previous post, on March 1st, I attended a cute little fundraiser, hostessed by Heather Summers and her son Mark. It was a great night and the little kit we received was great.

Along with the proceeds of the kit, Heather and Mark created a table's worth of handmade items for sale with proceeds also going towards their donation! They were definitely little busy bee's, as there were so many beautiful items. They had coffee cozys, box of cards, bags of cards, and hand bags.

Today's post is one of the items they were selling and I just couldn't resist this little package of birthday cards.

It uses the stamp set: Blast Off, and fabric from the Essential Designer Fabric pack.

If you think the packaging is cute, check out the cards! I love the little alien in the space ship and how they created the same card but with different coloured backgrounds.

I hope you have enjoyed Heather Summers' cute creation.
Have a great day and happy creating!

The Birthday Party!

(I hope this works, blogger keeps giving me error messages and has some how deleted my friday post...)

Happy Monday everyone! I had a GREAT week-end and I hope you did as well.

As most of you know, this week-end was my son's Birthday party to celebrate him turning 1! Over the past couple of weeks I have been sharing birthday preparations with you, so I thought I would post my completed projects for you to see. I'm really happy with how everything turned out and I hope it gives you some inspiration!

Here is the completed Pennant Banner that I created using MDS. I really wish I could get a better picture but it's so wide.

I had some extra "Thank-you" punch outs, so I decided to make some labels for the Kid's goodie bags or should I say barrels...

I decided to give all the kids a barrel of monkeys for their goodie bags.
and for the tiny kiddies, I found some cute little monkey teether toys!

All in all it was a great party and my little monkey had a great time!  (Sorry I couldn't resist sneaking a picture of my cutie into the post!)

Have a great day and happy creating!

Moving Forward.

The other night I attended a fundraiser hostessed by my wonderful up-line, Heather Summers and her awesome son, Mark. It was a fun night of crafting, visiting, snacking and shopping, and all for a great cause.

In our fundraiser kits we received the stamp set "Moving Forward" and all the materials needed to make 10 lovely cards!

But To be honest with you, before the fundraiser, I never really gave this stamp set a second look... I know that's awful, especially since it's this year's Ronald Mc'Donald House Charity stamp set. But after creating the beautiful cards designed by Heather, I realize it's quite a cute set!

Heather's cards also reminded me to step out of the norm and do something new, you know... maybe "move forward" with my crafting.... For me, I need to remember that not every card has to have an image with a mat. I feel like I've been doing the same old, same old. Seems like every card I've created lately has had a rectangle or a square with a mat. Well I'm happy to say that I moved forward, out of my rut, and I'm actually quite happy with the outcome. I didn't stamp my image on white, in a square/rectangle and no mats! What do you think?

Are you in a stamping rut? Try doing the complete opposite to what you would normally do. You never know what it may inspire you to create!
Have a great day!

Monkey Favours!

I am so sorry that I have been MIA. Mr Cold & Flu has visited our household and lets just say, there has been a lot of coughing, sneezing, and runny noses, and not a whole lot of sleeping, cleaning or crafting.
I did SLOWLY manage to assemble my party favours for Matthew's monkey themed birthday party though! Yeah!

I got this idea from Pinterest, which you can see here. I thought the fake leaves we're cute, but why go and buy a ton of leaves, when I have paper? So I used my oval punch and shredding scissors and VOILA!
(Have you heard of shredding scissors? I never had. I found a pair a long time ago at some store, for really cheap. I just thought they'd be awesome for making grass for crafts so I bought them not realizing they actually had a purpose, beside crafting. Lol)

For the "trunk" I would of loved to have used all brown M&M's, but I really didn't think the bulk store would appreciate me picking through the product. So, I found these extremely mini peanut butter cups instead and they workperfectly.

So, there you go. That is what those monkey's we're up too! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are inspired to create your own coordinating favours for your next party!
Happy Creating!

What are these monkey's up too?

I'm must admit that I really don't have much to share with you right now. Between my 2 boys being sick and my computer being a pain in the butt, I haven't really had much time to create.

But I did just send these little monkey's off to the print shop! What are they? Well, you'll just have to wait and see, but I will tell you that they are sized to be punched out with my 1 1/4" circle punch.

I love that MDS, will allow you to "Group" your objects and: 1- Save it, so that you can import it into other projects and 2- resize! I couldn't imagine having to recreate this little monkey every time I wanted him to be a different size.

I can't wait to show you what I have planned for these little monkeys, but until then, Happy Creating and have a great week-end!
